What you need

  • Yurt deck (5-ply maple)
  • Grip tape
  • 2 × trucks
  • 4 × wheels and lock nuts
  • 8 × screws
  • Assembly tool (included)
  • Something with a straight metal edge for trimming the grip, such as a metal ruler or file will do.

Step 1: Apply the grip tape

  1. Peel the backing off the grip tape.
  2. Press it onto the centre of the deck first, then smooth it out towards the ends and edges to avoid bubbles.
  3. Run a metal edge firmly around the edge of the deck to score the grip, then trim off the excess.
  4. Find the pre-drilled truck holes under the grip. Poking a pin through from the underside helps you locate them.
  5. Use a screwdriver to clear the grip from each hole so the screws can pass through.

Step 2: Attach the trucks

  1. Attach the 8 screws one at a time  through the holes from the top of the deck.
  2. Position each truck with the kingpins facing inwards, towards the middle of the board.
  3. Tighten the screws a little at a time, alternating between them, so the truck sits straight and doesn't pull out of line.

Step 3: Attach the wheels

  1. Slide a wheel onto each axle.
  2. Thread on the lock nut with the curved side facing outwards and the flat side towards the wheel.
  3. Tighten until the wheel spins freely with only a tiny side-to-side wobble. Don't overtighten, or the wheels won't spin freely.
  4. If a wheel doesn't spin freely, loosen its nut by about half a turn.

Step 4: Ready to ride

That's it. Your board is ready to go!

Keep it tuned

  • Fingerboards take a lot of impact, so check and gently tighten the screws and lock nuts every few sessions.
  • If a wheel stops spinning freely, loosen its nut slightly. Overtightening, especially while riding, can damage the bearings.
  • Replacement grip tape, bushings, trucks and wheels are available if you need them.

FAQs

How long does assembly take?
About 10 minutes for most people.

My wheels don't spin freely. What's wrong?
The lock nut is usually too tight. Loosen it slightly until the wheel spins with a tiny bit of side-to-side play.

Which way do the trucks go?
Kingpins and bushings face inwards, towards the centre of the board.
